If you’re a fan of authentic Italian deli meats, this place is a must-visit. Their attention to detail in crafting each product is impressive, turning simple ingredients into culinary masterpiece, the Beef mortadella was exceptional and bursting with flavor, and is a rare find in manhattan. Definitely worth a try for anyone who appreciates original handcrafted italian meats.

This place is related to Italian food like a pug is descended from a wolf.

Crappy decor with a horrid mishmash of Home Depot patterns and textures. Rude counter staff who make no effort to let you know what’s in the steam table. I had the sausage and peppers sandwich and it was a bunch of sausage (which by itself was flavorful) topped with onions and maybe something that was once a pepper before they stewed it into smithereens.

But the killer was the stale two-day old bread. How can you be an Italian deli and the hero bread is hard on the ends

Also a strange obsession with cash—all prices are listed separately for credit payments. Is it so hard to just set your prices to make a profit, assuming that X percent of your customers may by card? Do I have to get sucked into your accounting system when I pay? Just give me one price; what are you, a gas station?

I work a block away and wanted to like this place but they don’t seem very motivated at this food thing.

TERRIBLE.
I live 3 blocks south and never went there before, after 33 years I decided to get two hero's to take home.
#1 a meatball hero #2 a chicken parmigiana hero.

Both were barely warm... the TWO meatball's were barely warm and had hardly and sauce at all, and the chicken parmigiana hero VERY mushy.
The hero "bread".... was nothing like a crisp Italian hero instead it was like the bread was put into a steamer: soft and mushy like a wet sponge.
And the prices... $23.00 for both!
Will never set foot in there again.

Have gone here during lunch for work as it is a quick grab and go. It was quite delicious, and the service was very fast. Small hole in the wall but nice overall and enough room to sit. Got the meatball sub (small) and was extremely filling. Overall, it did the trick and was very good!

This place used to have THE best Chicken Parm Hero in the city by a long shot. Been twice in the last few months and honestly it’s been pretty sub par. Really miss my perfect comfort sandwich! Please bring it back to its original legendary status!

You have to know what you’re getting here. It may be inconsistent and not always what you expect. But I love it. The chicken and meatball parmigiana are terrific. Lots to like about this place.
