My family and I just returned from our first visit to Italy and my time fishing with Gianluigi was a true highlight of the trip! Many months ago when planning our trip I began researching local fishing possibilities. When I found Gianluigi's web site and read his bio I was excited and thought he was the type of guide I was looking for. My goal was to increase my fly caught "life list" and I had a lot of specific questions that took place over many, many emails and several months. Gianluigi answered all of them cheerfully, thoroughly and quickly, which was greatly appreciated.
When we finally got out fishing the day was wonderful! We went out in his boat from the shores of Monterosso and the scenery was stunning! Gianluigi found fish right away and within minutes I had a new species for the life list. It did not take Gianluigi long to then find mahi mahi, and the sight of pods of them chasing the fly in that deep blue water is spectacular. He quickly figured what fly and presentation worked best for them and we soon began landing them as well.
We had action all day long and being on the boat with Gianluigi was a pleasure.
In addition to fishing with a good captain who knows how to find and catch fish, it's important to be with someone you like. Gianluigi is a warm, friendly, enthusiastic fisherman and I felt like I was out fishing with one of my buddies.
I would love to fish with him again and I'd highly recommend him to anyone looking to fish the area!

Gianluigi was extremely helpful. He gave me a lot of information both before I decided to use his services and after that. There were two of us with Gianluigi - me with 5 year experience in fly fishing and a friend of mine Darek who held fly fishing rod for the second time in his life (the first time was Polish nymphing, so a very specific type of fly fishing). In no time at all Gianluigi taught Darek the basic overhead and roll cast. I was amazed because it took me quite a time to learn it. And most of all - he guided us to a place where within 3 hours I caught 14 40+ cm trouts who fought like hell. Gianluigi picked me up and arranged a full days fishing for me on my recent trip to Liguria. Well informed on all fresh & salt water fly fishing in the area, and had all the equipment (waders,rods,flies) to go along with the various types of fishing that Italy has to offer. The only negative: he opened the pandoras box to fishing in the region, which will now be at the forefront of my mind.
